Die Cuvee besteht aus 53% Cabernet Sauvignon, 44% Merlot, 3% Cabernet Franc

2020 beendete das Jahrzehnt auf einem Höhepunkt. Einer der besten frühreifenden Sorten Jahrgänge. Als Überflieger gelang es ihm, das Beste daraus zu machen Extreme Bedingungen, um die perfekte Balance zu erreichen. Das Jahr war geprägt von einem milden Winter mit einem frühen Wachstumszyklus. dann ein sonniger, feuchter Frühling mit gleichmäßiger Blüte. Der Sommer war heiß mit Hitzewellen vom 20. Juni bis 10. August und Rekordtemperaturen über 40°C. Trotz der Hitze litten die Reben nicht darunter Wasserstress. Die Fähigkeit des Bodens, Quell- und Winterwasser zu speichern, ist vorhanden machte den Unterschied in Ton-Kalkstein-Unterböden aus. Eine Regenperiode vor dem 15. August sorgte für willkommene Erleichterung. Im Vergleich zu „normalen“ Jahrgängen begann die Ernte zwei Wochen früher. Der Cabernet und Merlot sind unglaublich aromatisch. Die Säfte sind tief- gefärbt, konzentriert und reif, während die Qualität der Tannine gleich ist sehr vielversprechend. 2020 zählt zu den großen Jahrgängen. Es ist das perfekte Beispiel dafür Bordeaux-Know-how: ein sonniger, aber frischer Jahrgang mit Mineralität und Spannung und ein vielversprechendes Alterungspotenzial.

Die Merlots und Cabernets Francs befinden sich im südwestlichen Teil der Appellation am Rande der berühmten Pomerol-Appellation und sind auf einem ausgezeichneten Tonterroir mit eisenhaltiger und schlammiger Unterlage gepflanzt. Dank eines Durchschnittsalters der Reben von 40 Jahren und sorgfältigem Weinbau (manuelle Ernte) bietet das Château La Mission Weine mit Aromen reifer Früchte mit einem reichen, seidigen und charmanten Gaumen, der bereits in jungen Jahren zugänglich ist.

Der Name „La Mission“ stammt aus der Zeit der Kreuzzüge, als die Ritter auf ihrem Weg in weiter entfernte Länder des Mittelmeers durch die Region Pomerol zogen. Es war üblich, dass sie, als sie anhielten, vor dem Kreuz der Mission beteten, das noch auf dem Grundstück anwesend war.

Das Chateau ist seit Jahren eines meiner Liebsten. Hier auf dem kleinen famileingeführten Chateau Pindefleurs, deren Weinberge nur ein Steinwurf von berühmten Nachbarn wie Angelus und Le Dome entfernt liegt, spielt die Merlottraube seine Reize voll aus. The medium-bodied palate is chock-full of crunchy black fruits with a firm, grainy frame and plenty of freshness, finishing long and lively. This is seriously impressive Cabernet, punching well above its weight!

The palate is medium-bodied with dry, gritty tannins with a smudge of dark chocolate towards the sandy finish. It needs a little more flesh around the bones, but that should come during its barrel maturation.
