Weinregion Bordeaux:
Mit dem Bordeaux oder auch Bordelais verbindet man seit jeher qualitativ hochwertigste Weine und große Namen. Das Bordeaux ist für Qualitätswein das größte zusammenhängende Weinanbaugebiet weltweit. Die über 3000 Weingüter werden "Chateaux" genannt, wobei jedes Chateaux in der Regel nur einen Erstwein produziert, einige noch einen Zweitwein. (Einige Weingüter produzieren Erst- und Zweitwein in rot und weiß). Die Region ist bekannt für trockene, langlebige Rotweine, die je nach Anbaugebiet mal kräftiger oder sanfter ausfallen. Die Weine sind vor allem als gute Essensbegleiter zu verstehen.
Neben den Rotweinen ist das Bordelais auch für seine hochwertigen edelsüßen Sauternes bekannt.

Composed of 96% Merlot and 4% Cabernet Franc, the deep garnet-purple colored 2018 Alcee charges out of the gate with bold notions of stewed black cherries, blackberry preserves and fruitcake, plus hints of cinnamon toast, licorice and tobacco leaf with a waft of camphor. The medium to full-bodied palate is chock-full of ripe black fruit flavors with a velvety texture and just enough freshness, finishing long and spicy.

James Suckling im März 2021 zum Chateau Alcee 2018 Castillon Cotes de Bordeaux:

Black cherries, blueberries, dried leaves, praline and some tar on the nose. It’s medium-to full-bodied with firm, broad tannins. Structured and concentrated. 96% merlot and 4% cabernet franc. Better from 2023.

Neal Martin schreibt im Januar 2021:

The 2018 Alcée, the Castillon Côtes de Bordeaux from Nicolas Thienpont, has a rather thick, dense bouquet of opulent blackberry and cassis fruit. It is certainly the most sumptuous of Thienpont’s wines this vintage. The palate is medium-bodied with fine tannins that frame layers of tar- and tobacco-infused black fruit. Dichotomous to the nose, the finish comes across as structured and a little more austere in style. I appreciate the focus and spiciness of this Alcée, which deserves 2–3 years in bottle. Very fine, if a bit like a jigsaw puzzle: you have to put it together in your mind!

Only 14 hectares of the very best gravel and clay soils and the finest. most distinguished. Merlot. Cabernet Sauvignon and Petit Verdot vines have been selected; 14 hectares of vines on which the Dourthe oenologists and their teams focus all their talent and give free reign to their passion. Essence is the result of their remarkable achievements in each vineyard. a sublime combination of great terroirs and talents. But Essence is rare: only 6.000 bottles of Essence de Dourthe are produced each year.

Eine Sensation in Flaschen - Eine grosse Überraschung bei unserer Verkostung am 07.11.2018 in Zürich im Dolder Grand auf der UGCB Verkostung des Jahrgangs 2016. Chateau Durfort Vivens 2016 Margaux, mann könnte es mit der Liebe auf den ersten Schluck beschreiben. Die bis dato höchste Intensität des Cabernet in diesem Wein, 94% purer Cabernet und deren wolllüstige Cassisfrucht die einem geradeaus ins Gesicht springt. Dann im Mund fängt der Wein an zu rocken, er ist wild und ungestüm und dennoch hat er eine so tolle Balance, man ist schier sprachlos. Wie geht das in so einem Wein. Der 2016er wird mir immer im Gedächtnis bleiben. Was danach folgte ist eine Elexiervariante mit dem 2018er. Diese Miniproduktion und dann gefolgt von gleich drei Traumjahren (2019,2020 UND 2021!) für diesen Wein, jeder Jahrgang einfach auf seine ganz spezielle Art und Weise eigenständig.

This is really superb with beautiful density and ripe tannin texture. Full body and a round and polished texture. Rich and impressive but all in class. Made from biodynamic grapes. Almost all cabernet sauvignon.

The 2015 Clos Fourtet is a blend of 90% Merlot. 7% Cabernet Sauvignon and 3% Cabernet Franc. and it was picked between 18 September and 12 October. It has a voluminous bouquet with sweet cassis and blueberry aromas. rather smudged with violets coming through with aeration. The palate is medium-bodied with rounded tannin. ripe and voluptuous. dark chocolate infusing the red and black fruit with a touch of mint on the structured. graceful finish. What a fabulous Saint Emilion from Mathieu Cuvelier and his team - Clos Fourtet with breeding and class. It deserves 5-8 years in bottle.

Clos Fourtet is a drop-dead gorgeous beauty in 2015. Powerful. vivid and wonderfully nuanced. it exudes class. Inky red/purplish stone fruit. lavender. spice. mint and orange peel give the 2015 its myriad shades of nuance. but it is the wine's balance and total sense of harmony that elevate it to the realm of the profound. In 2015. Clos Fourtet has a bit more body and resonance than is typically the case. Beneath all of the fruit. however. the 2015 has more than enough energy and structural underpinning to drink well for many years. This is a stunning wine from the Cuvelier family and consulting winemakers Stéphane Derenoncourt and Julien Lavenu. The blend is 88% Merlot. 10% Cabernet Sauvignon and 2% Cabernet Franc. What a lovely red-cherry and pomegranate nose this medium-bodied. elegantly structured St.-Emilion has. Very fresh finish with plenty of chalky minerality that builds on the long. clean finish. Château Bélair-Monange was born from the fusion of the vineyards of Châteaux Bélair and Magdelaine. both historic First Classified Growths of Saint-Émilion.

Château Bélair was acquired by Ets. Jean-Pierre Moueix in 2008. Tracing its origins back to Roman times. the vineyard is situated at the highest point of Saint-Émilion’s famed limestone plateau. Château Magdelaine. a contiguous cru acquired in 1952. has always been renowned for the remarkable elegance of its wines. Château Bélair-Monange expresses the unique style of the greatest parcels of these two complementary terroirs.

Following the restructuring of the estate initiated in 2008. another wine embodying the inherent qualities of the vineyard – minerality. concentration of red berries. balance and length – emerged in 2014: ANNONCE DE BÉLAIR-MONANGE

Produced in very limited quantities. ANNONCE enjoys the same attention as the Grand Vin: meticulous vineyard work undertaken with respect for the environment followed by a manual harvest once the grapes have reached optimal maturity. Vinification takes place in concrete and stainless-steel vats. where maceration and extraction are gentle and measured in order to allow the fruit its highest expression. The wine is then aged in French oak barrels.

Complex nose of blackberries, raspberries, elderberries and spices. Earthy notes, too. It’s full-bodied with elegant tannins. Suave, fleshy texture on the palate. Flavorful finish with length. Lots of character. Second wine of Belair-Monange. Try after 2024.

Eine wichtige Umstrukturierung des Weinbergs wurde 2008 unmittelbar nach dem Erwerb des Weinguts durch Ets eingeleitet. Jean-Pierre Moueix. Anschließend entstand ein weiterer Wein, der die inhärenten Eigenschaften des Weinbergs verkörpert - Mineralität, Konzentration der roten Beeren, Gleichgewicht und Länge -: ANNONCE DE BÉLAIR-MONANGE. ANNONCE wird in sehr begrenzten Mengen hergestellt und genießt die gleiche Aufmerksamkeit wie der Grand Vin: akribische, umweltfreundliche Weinbergarbeiten, gefolgt von einer manuellen Ernte, sobald die Trauben die optimale Reife erreicht haben. Die Weinbereitung erfolgt in Bottichen aus Beton und Edelstahl, in denen Mazeration und Extraktion schonend und gemessen werden, um der Frucht ihren höchsten Ausdruck zu verleihen. Der Wein reift dann in französischen Eichenfässern. Obwohl ANNONCE in seiner Jugend großen Charme zeigt, werden einige Jahre Keller oder einige Stunden Dekantieren weitgehend belohnt.

Winter und Frühling waren sehr regnerisch. Ein später Knospenbruch am 9. April ermöglichte es uns, einen Frühlingsfrost zu vermeiden. Die Blüte vom 23. bis 30. Mai verlief gut und die potenzielle Qualität war signifikant. Der regnerische Frühling verursachte einen schweren Mehltauanfall, der dank der erheblichen Anstrengungen unserer Weinbergarbeiter vereitelt wurde. Während des Sommers hat ein Team von 60 Mitarbeitern die Ernte verdünnt und den gewünschten Ertrag an das Paket und das Alter der Reben angepasst. Nahezu perfekte Balance war die Belohnung für 16.800 Stunden sorgfältiger Arbeit. Die Véraison fand vom 26. Juli bis 12. August statt. Das Hauptmerkmal dieses Jahrgangs waren die 1.136 Sonnenstunden zwischen Juni und September, ein bemerkenswerter Rekord der letzten fünfzig Jahre. Die Ernte fand bei sonnigem Himmel und warmen Temperaturen vom 18. September bis 4. Oktober statt. Dieser Jahrgang von Annonce wird hauptsächlich aus dem Kalksteinplateau hergestellt und bietet eine schöne aromatische Palette roter und schwarzer Früchte, während der charakteristische Charme und die Mineralität des Schlosses erhalten bleiben.

Würde man in die Wertung das Preis-Leistungsverhältnis einfliessen lassen. so müsste man deutlich höher punkten.

So ist und bleibt Haut Tropchaud 2018 auch in diesem herausfordernden JG eines der unglaublichsten Schnäppchen.

Auch im jüngsten verfügbaren Jahrgang 2020 ist der Haut Tropchaud eine wirkliche Perle des Pomerol Plateau. Für mich unterscheidet sich der JG 2020 beim Haut Tropchaud vom 2019er Haut Tropchaud in seiner Intensität. Seine Frucht ist noch eine Nuance tiefer und schwarzbeeriger als beim verführerischen Vorgänger. Auch seine Tanninstruktur weisst eine kompaktere Struktur auf, alles in allem würde ich sagen, dass der JG 2020 bei Haut Tropchaud die bisherige Spitze des Schaffens ist. Den Wein verfolge ich nun schon über ein halbes Jahr, in gewissen Abständen nach seiner Ankunft im September 2022. Zunächst brauchte er mindestens 2 Tage um zu seiner gewohnten Tiefe und Leichtigkeit zu gelangen. Doch jetzt rückt alles immer mehr an den Rechten Platz, man hat fast das Gefühl der Haut Tropchaud 2020 hat Platz genommen um Sie auf eine Genussreise mitzunehmen die Sie für diesen unverschämt charmanten Preis in Pomerol kein zweites Mal erfahren werden.

Inky blue/purplish fruit. spice. lavender. licorice and menthol all develop in the glass. but it is the wine's textural richness and intensity that stand out most. As good as the 2015 is today. it is going to need at least 15-20 years to be at its very best. Is there anything more I can ask of the 2015? No. there is not. This is a tremendous showing.

The 2015 Vieux Chateau Certan was bottled in mid-May as usual. This was one of the wines of the vintage out of barrel. and now it has a compelling bouquet with blackberry. smoke and iris. There is wonderful delineation here. a cerebral bouquet that is quite mercurial in the glass. traces of black truffle emerging with aeration. The palate is medium-bodied with fine tannin and just a killer line of acidity. a Vieux Chateau Certan surfeit with energy and joie de vivre. It fans out in glorious. almost swaggering fashion with truffle and white pepper. a touch of truffle on the persistent finish. This is clearly destined to be one among the canon of legendary wines from the estate although it does deserve requisite cellaring. This is one of the wines of the vintage. Anticipated maturity: 2025 - 2055.

Full-bodied, richly fruited and packed with savory layers, it has a firm frame of grainy tannins and just enough freshness, finishing long and earthy.

Im Gaumen fest. stoffig. noch fein aufrauhend. da ist viel Material drin. nicht unbescheiden in seiner Extraktion. Ich hätte weniger Kraft und mehr Saft erwartet. Das Potential ist aber beeindruckend. Also; let's see in 10 years.

The harmony and complexity is phenomenal. Try in 2024 but I don’t want to wait.

There is plenty of structure. but the tannins are nearly buried by the sheer intensity of the fruit. Hints of lavender. smoke. spice. licorice reappear to round out the finish. L'Eglise-Clinet is 90% Merlot. 10% Cabernet Franc. aged in 70% new oak. More importantly. the 2015 is a total pleasure bomb. This a fabulous wine from Denis Durantou. Don't miss it.

The 2014 Trotanoy had (que surprise!) closed down on the nose compared to its JP Moueix stablemates. A few swirls of the glass and it reveals very precise. mineral-soaked black fruit laced with black truffle and subtle sous-bois aromas. It soon gathers momentum and the aromas were gaining more and more intensity after five minutes. The palate is outstanding. There is brilliant structure here. immense and almost staggering purity. incredible focus and tension with an electrifying spiciness on the finish. Best Pomerol of the vintage? The only thing wrong with that last sentence is the question mark at the end.

Sattes Purpur-Granat. dicht in der Mitte. lila Schimmer aussen. Frische. dunkle. grosse Pflaumen im ausladenden Ansatz. Tabaknuancen. florale Zuge. Gewurznelken und Lorbeer. Er zeigt eine bemerkenswerte Tiefe. die Terroirexpression kommt somit erst im zweiten Ansatz. Samtiger Gaumen. die mittlere Adstringenz verbindet sich mit der Zunge. das Extrakt hat eine schöne. pfeffrige Note. im Finale kommt dann seine Klasse erst richtig zum Vorschein. Dies durch seine parfumierte Art von Lakritze. Rauch und ganz dunklem Malz. Nicht zu unterschätzen. In einer Dekade könnte dies der beste Pomerol sein und somit wäre er dann mit den zu erwartenden 19/20 ziemlich einsam an der Spitze.
