Weinregion Bordeaux:
Mit dem Bordeaux oder auch Bordelais verbindet man seit jeher qualitativ hochwertigste Weine und große Namen. Das Bordeaux ist für Qualitätswein das größte zusammenhängende Weinanbaugebiet weltweit. Die über 3000 Weingüter werden "Chateaux" genannt, wobei jedes Chateaux in der Regel nur einen Erstwein produziert, einige noch einen Zweitwein. (Einige Weingüter produzieren Erst- und Zweitwein in rot und weiß). Die Region ist bekannt für trockene, langlebige Rotweine, die je nach Anbaugebiet mal kräftiger oder sanfter ausfallen. Die Weine sind vor allem als gute Essensbegleiter zu verstehen.
Neben den Rotweinen ist das Bordelais auch für seine hochwertigen edelsüßen Sauternes bekannt.

Der Kern ist dicht und undurchsichtig, nur eine minimale Aufhellung zum Rand hin. Die Nase bietet eine Fülle dunklen schwarzen Beeren, süsse Kirschnuancen, eine frische kühlende Nuance. Sehr behutsames Toasting, man hat wohl aus dem 2015er seine Schlüsse gezogen und geht etwas behutsamer mit dem Neuholzanteil um. Im Mund totale Balance bei maximalem aromatischen Druck. Perfekt polierte Tannine, lang, frisch, kühl, druckvoll und nochmal lang! Einfach ein genialer Weinwert, dessen Winemaker-Team den Jahrgang perfekt interpretiert hat. 93-95 Punkte.

A blend of 80% Merlot and 20% Cabernet Franc, aged for around 18 months in oak barrels, 40% new, the 2018 Tour Saint Christophe weighs in at 14.6% alcohol. Deep garnet-purple in color, it comes barreling out of the glass with bold notions of baked black cherries, plum preserves and blueberry pie plus underlying suggestions of Christmas cake, Chinese five spice and dusty soil. The full-bodied palate packs in the black and blue fruit preserves layers, framed by velvety tannins and lively acidity, finishing long and spicy.

Currant, red-tea, chili, chocolate and lemon-zest aromas. Chalk and crushed gravel, too. It’s medium-bodied with tight, fine-grained tannins and fresh acidity. Silky and exceptionally polished, the 2018 oozes class. Moreover, the heavy extraction and strong torrefaction notes that marked previous vintages of the recent past have been replaced by beautifully precise, vibrant fruit. Tour Saint Christophe is one of best values in Saint-Émilion. I haven't always loved Tour Saint Christoph, but I love the 2018. It's a fabulous effort from Technical Director Jérôme Aguirre and his team. Don't miss it.

TThis estate has been delivering the goods for numerous vintages now, and the 2019 Château Tour Saint Christophe is another terrific wine. Ripe black cherries, black raspberries, graphite, new leather, and chalky minerality all define the nose, and it's medium to full-bodied, has a tight, straight, focused texture, ripe yet present tannins, and outstanding length. It doesn't have the mid-palate density or opulence of the 2018, but it’s more pretty, focused, and straight on the palate. Give bottles 4-5 years and enjoy over the following two decades.

It revealed precocious yet controlled blackberry and blueberry fruit scents, with that violet component still intact. The tannins have not lost any of their grippiness or assertiveness. This is a Saint-Émilion that is in for the long haul. Great potential.

Everything about the 2015 speaks to balance. This is a superb showing from proprietors Stephen and Denise Adams and their team. which includes both Stéphane Derenoncourt and Michel Rolland.

Made almost exclusively from Merlot with just a 5% splash of Cabernet Franc. the 2015 Fonplegade is deep garnet-purple in color with a very pretty nose of red and black currants. wild thyme. charcuterie. earth and floral notes plus a fair amount of cedary notions in the background. Medium to full-bodied. it's wonderfully elegant. fine and fresh in the mouth with arresting purity and depth. finishing just a little woody. Give it 3-5 years for the oak to marry and the fruit to come to the forefront. and drink it over the next 10 to 15+ years.

Another beautiful wine from the Lefévère family that does everything right, the 2019 Château Sansonnet has a textbook Saint-Emilion bouquet of chalky minerality, ripe red and black fruits, notes of truffle and flowers, medium to full body, and beautiful overall balance. In the past, this wine has had a glossy, slightly modern style (in a good sense), but the 2019 has an incredibly classic feel with its oak nicely integrated and just a liquid rock-like minerality on the finish. It's a gorgeous wine that will benefit from 2-4 years of bottle age and keep for over two decades.

Der 2019 Laroque entfaltet im Glas Aromen von Kirschen, Lakritz, lehmiger Erde, Rosenblättern und süßem Tabak. Mittel- bis vollmundig, großzügig und vielschichtig, zeigt er Tiefe und Konzentration mit saftigen Säuren, pudrigen Tanninen und einem nahtlosen, harmonischen Profil. Er ist auf jeden Fall einen Versuch wert.

Tighter and more backward from bottle than barrel, it's medium to full-bodied and has a balanced, elegant texture, beautiful tannins, and a great finish. It needs 3-5 years of bottle age and should have two decades of overall longevity.

Ripe black fruit (there's some red fruit as well), tobacco leaf, damp earth, exotic flowers, and some chocolaty notes all emerge from the 2019 Clos De L'Oratoire, another beautiful wine from the Neipperg family and team. Rich, medium to full-bodied, and seamless on the palate, I love its mid-palate, it has gorgeous tannins, no hard edges, and a great finish. This is clearly a great vintage for this cuvée. Hide bottles for 4-5 years, and it's going to have 2-3 decades of longevity, and probably a gradual decline after that as well. It's beautiful.

It's produced from holdings on sandy-clay soils in the northeast of Saint-Émilion.

Château Peymouton ist Teil des Anwesens von Château Laroque, einem historischen Grand Cru Classé von Saint-Émilion, das nur 3,5 km östlich des mittelalterlichen Dorfes liegt.

Château Laroque, eines der größten Anwesen der Appellation, stammt aus dem 12. Jahrhundert. Seidige Tannine, kaum vorhanden, außer um eine mineralische, nasse Steinstruktur zu verleihen, die im Vordergrund steht. Es ist tiefgründig in Bezug auf den Geschmack - vertikal und strukturiert, aber nicht schwer oder überschwänglich, mit Frische und Fokus, die es gehoben und anmutig halten. Gut ausbalanciert, harmonisch und voller Klassizismus im besten Sinne. Dies ist der 19. Jahrgang für Winzer Pierre Seillan, dessen Sohn jetzt das Ruder übernimmt.
