Der Petit Clos ist der fantastische Zweitwein dieses grossen Südamerikanischen Rotweins - Clos Apalta

96 Puntke James Suckling für den Le Petit Clos 2017 Zweitwein Clos ApaltaVerkostungsnotiz von James Suckling vom 19. Februar 2020:

This is so delicious with blackcurrants. spice. sweet tobacco. lavender and roses. Full-bodied. tight and very polished with gorgeous texture and finesse. Shows tannin tension at the end. A blend of mostly cabernet sauvignon. the rest cabernet franc. Better after 2022.

(Best Ever beim Wineadvocate)

The second wine. in the Bordeaux sense. the 2017 Le Petit Clos has a different blend from the grand vin. in this case 68% Cabernet Sauvignon. 16% Carmenere. 9% Cabernet Franc. 5% Merlot and 2% Petit Verdot and is quite different every year. It fermented in 7.500-liter oak vats with indigenous yeasts and a four- to five-week maceration followed by malolactic in new barriques. It matured in new French barriques for six months and spent the next 16 months in first. second and third use French oak barrels. I found a lot less influence from the oak here than in the "grand vin" and a more classical profile with dominance of the Cabernet Sauvignon—ripe without excess. powerful and concentrated but with very good balance. It's quite approachable even when it feels quite youthful; the tannins are round. and the wine is neat and velvety with some creaminess. It has an elegant profile within the powerful character of the vintage. It surpassed my expectations. and I find it every bit as good as the 2016. 72.000 bottles produced. It was bottled in October 2019. This has only been produced since 2014.

Beschreibung zum Petit Clos
Apalta is located at 170 Kilometers South West from Santiago in the Colchagua Valley. The Vineyard is situated on a North to South exposure. which is quite rare in Chile. The Tinguiririca river rests on one side and the hills from the Coastal Cordillera surround the vineyard like a horseshoe on the other. They are both integral in forming this unique terroir. This geography is responsible for the conditions that ensure balance for our vines and a slow ripening for the grapes. At sunrise and sunset. the Cordillera block the sun’s rays. limiting the vines exposure to intense sunshine and the river has a cooling influence on the climate. There is much diversity in the soil. and our Clos Apalta comes from colluvial granitic soils. lightly textured with layers of clay.

Vintage 2019
The winter 2018 was dry and cold in Apalta. Spring was mild and wet, with rains over 49% the historical average of water fallen in the same period. The summer was hotter compared to our historical records. There was also no rain recorded until the end of the harvest. The key this year was to manage both irrigation and canopy management that would protect the grapes from the intense sun, avoid sunburn and other issues in the vineyard.

Beschreibung zum Weingut Clos Apalta

Das Weingut liegt 170 Kilometer südwestlich von Santiago im Colchagua-Tal. Der Weinberg liegt in Nord-Süd-Ausrichtung. was in Chile eher selten vorkommt.

A beautiful delivery of Petit Clos with spiced black cherries, cassis, olives and some red capsicums to the nose. Chalky tannins are densely packed on the medium- to full-bodied palate. Tight, structured and fine-grained. Very long. Drink or hold.

The wine has the lush and ripe signature, with 15% alcohol, decadent and showy, with a nose of violets and camphor, ripe berries, herbs and spices and integrated oak. It fermented with indigenous yeasts, with five to six weeks of maceration, manual punch-downs and malolactic in French oak barrels. The élevage was 26 months in 53% new oak and 47% second use oak. It has the velvety tannins from a warm vintage—fine-grained and abundant—with a long finish with a bitter twist.77,580 bottles produced. It was bottled in July 2022.

Glaetzer Amon Ra 2021 Shiraz Ben Glaetzer Barossa Valley

August 2023:

The Amon-Ra is a wine that's well known for its graceful aging capacity, and so, in a vintage like 2021 (long, cooler than the horrendously low-yielding and drought-addled 2020 and 2019 prior), the release is eagerly anticipated. The 2021 Amon-Ra Shiraz is complete, in a word. The purple and red berries in the mouth are fresh and supple, the flow of flavor across the tongue feels unbroken and svelte, and the aftertaste is padded by chewy, pliable tannins. This is a real pleasure, and not just now—it will be later, too. 15% alcohol, sealed under natural cork.
