Chateau Plince

Château Plince is situated just outside the village of Catusseau in Pomerol, and has been owned by the Moreau family for over four generations. The vineyard, planted on dark sand with an iron-rich subsoil, is made up of one block and counts Châteaux Nenin and La Pointe as its neighbors.
The vineyard is tended traditionally and with great care throughout the year (leaf-thinning, green harvests) in order to produce optimally ripe fruit that is expressive of this terroir.
After harvest, the grapes undergo a careful sorting before being transferred to thermo-regulated cement tanks, where they are stored for one week of pre-fermentation maceration. Fermentation lasts for 1-2 weeks, and after 1-2 weeks of additional maceration, the wine is transferred to French oak barrels (1/3 new) for the malolactic fermentation, followed by 12-18 months of aging.
Château Plince produces a classic Pomerol with the beautiful fruit, depth and concentration typical of this appellation.

The 2016 Plince is a blend of 79% Merlot and 21% Cabernet Franc. It has a medium garnet-purple color and offers up scents of red and black currants, black cherries and mulberries with scorched earth, bay leaves and iron ore nuances plus a hint of violets. Medium-bodied, the palate is packed with energetic red and black fruits, textured with ripe, rounded tannins and loads of freshness, finishing on a compelling mineral note.

Chateau Plince 2021 Pomerol

Der Château Plince 2021 setzt sich zusammen aus 82 % Merlot und 18 % Cabernet Franc, geerntet zwischen dem 25. September und dem 6. Oktober. Eine fleischige, unkomplizierte, charmante Anstrengung mit vielen Johannisbeeren und fast Brombeer-ähnlichen Früchten, bietet er mittlere Körperfülle sowie ein rundes, schön ausbalanciertes Mundgefühl und reife, pudrige Tannine. Mit der Zeit im Glas kommen mehr Tabak- und Eisennoten hervor und er wird von ein paar Jahren im Keller nur profitieren.

Der Plince 2021 hat viel mehr Fruchtkonzentration in der Nase als der
Plincette und liefert Aromen von schwarzen Kirschen, Cassis und Veilchen. Die Eiche ist hier gut integriert. Der Gaumen ist sauber und frisch beim Eintritt, bietet ziemlich robuste Tannine, die die Mitte dominieren, und eine gute Dichte, auch wenn es ihm etwas an Grazie und Raffinesse im krautigen Finish fehlt. Ein bisschen unbeholfen.

Die Nase des Plince Pomerol ist sehr schön und klar nicht mehr so dunkelfruchtig und röstig wie üblich. Vielmehr zeigt er eine frische hellbeerige Nuancierung. Das Tannin wirk im Auftakt etwas adstringent, wird dann aber im Mund feiner und sanfter. Ein erkennbarer Stilwechsel oder doch nur eine Prägung des Jahrgangs. Mittlerer saftiger Ausklang bei feiner Frucht im Nachgeschmack. Wer einen früh trinkreifen Pomerol aus 2023 sucht kommt an Chateau Plince wohl nicht vorbei.

Dieser Wein ist sehr texturiert und raffiniert mit mittlerem Körper und feinkörnigen Tanninen. Nahtlos und sich am Gaumen ausbreitend, mit einem anhaltenden, umfassenden Abgang.
