The 2019 Ormes de Pez has an intense bouquet of blackberry, bilberry and a touch of hoisin, but none of the smoky elements that I commented upon from the barrel sample last year. Nicely delineated and certainly less rustic than past vintages. The palate is finely tuned with a touch of bitter cherry on the entry, quite peppery, and a little stricter than I expected at the moment, leading to a granular, almost truffly finish.

This shows lots of spice, such as cloves and nutmeg, together with dark berries and cherries and some plums. It’s structured and relatively dense, with lovely length and beauty. Needs time to open and come together. 50% merlot, 40% cabernet sauvignon with cabernet franc and petit verdot. Lovely now. Try after 2024.

Coming from the Cazes team, the 2019 Château Ormes De Pez is gorgeous and shines in the vintage. Pure crème de cassis, mulberries, leafy herbs, Asian spices, and lead pencil all emerge on the nose, and this medium to full-bodied 2019 has the vintage’s pure, focused, elegant style while staying ripe, supple, and textured. The balance is spot on, and it's going to hit maturity in roughly 8-10 years and have two decades of prime drinking.

Inkschwarze Farbe mit einem undurchsichtigen Kern, lila Reflexionen, zarte Aufhellung am Rand. Nuancen von Cassis und Minze, frische schwarze Kirsche, feine Kräuterwürze, einladendes Bouquet. Mittelgriffiger Körper, feine Herz-Kirsche, runde Tannine, mineralisch-salziges Finish, lebendiger Stil.

Der Meyney 2023 wird von Antonio Galloni von Vinous mit 91-93/100 bewertet und präsentiert sich als hervorragend. Seidig und poliert zeigt der 2023er eine Seite von Meyney, die ich bisher nicht gesehen habe. Es gibt auch eine hervorragende Frische und allgemeine Lebendigkeit. Dunkle rote Pflaume, Blutorange, Kreide, Minze und getrocknete Kräuter sind alle wunderschön abgegrenzt. Am meisten bewundere ich die Anmut des Weins. Laut Neal Martin von Vinous erhält der Meyney 2023 eine Bewertung von 89-91/100. Überraschenderweise ist der 2023er Meyney auf der Nase eher zurückhaltend mit Aromen von Brombeere, Kirsche, einem Hauch von schwarzem Pfeffer und erdigen Nuancen. Er bleibt im Glas zurückhaltend, gewinnt aber an Reinheit. Am Gaumen mittelkräftig mit feinkörnigen Tanninen. Vielleicht etwas konservativ im Stil, er bleibt im Rahmen des Jahrgangs, fühlt sich aber stimmig an. Was fehlt, ist nur ein wenig Griff und Dichte im Abgang. Fein. Der Meyney 2023 wird als hervorragend und eigenständig beschrieben, mit seiner seidigen Textur, Frische und geschliffenen Eleganz. 2020 beendete das Jahrzehnt auf einem Höhepunkt. Einer der besten frühreifenden Sorten Jahrgänge. Als Überflieger gelang es ihm, das Beste daraus zu machen Extreme Bedingungen, um die perfekte Balance zu erreichen. Das Jahr war geprägt von einem milden Winter mit einem frühen Wachstumszyklus. dann ein sonniger, feuchter Frühling mit gleichmäßiger Blüte. Der Sommer war heiß mit Hitzewellen vom 20. Juni bis 10. August und Rekordtemperaturen über 40°C. Trotz der Hitze litten die Reben nicht darunter Wasserstress. Die Fähigkeit des Bodens, Quell- und Winterwasser zu speichern, ist vorhanden machte den Unterschied in Ton-Kalkstein-Unterböden aus. Eine Regenperiode vor dem 15. August sorgte für willkommene Erleichterung. Im Vergleich zu „normalen“ Jahrgängen begann die Ernte zwei Wochen früher. Der Cabernet und Merlot sind unglaublich aromatisch. Die Säfte sind tief- gefärbt, konzentriert und reif, während die Qualität der Tannine gleich ist sehr vielversprechend. 2020 zählt zu den großen Jahrgängen. Es ist das perfekte Beispiel dafür Bordeaux-Know-how: ein sonniger, aber frischer Jahrgang mit Mineralität und Spannung und ein vielversprechendes Alterungspotenzial.

Der Tasca Regaleali Rosso 2021 wird mit der am meisten angebauten Rebsorte im Betrieb erzeugt, der Nero d’Avola, eine nicht ganz leichte Rebsorte. Um sie wirklich zu verstehen und von den anderen zu unterscheiden, müssen die Leute von Tasca d'Almeritain in den Weinberg und die Aromalinie der Reben ziehen.Im Mittelpunkt steht die Reife des Weins. Zuerst schmeckt der Nero d’Avola herb und kräftig. Danach folgt ein Abgang mit Nuancen von reifem und konzentriertem Obst. Die Höhe der Weinberge von über 500 m und die Reifung in großen Fässern machen ihn zu einem frischen und angenehmen Wein. Nach nunmehr 65 Weinlesen nähert man sich dem Ziel, der Eleganz und eben der perfekten Balance zwischen Strenge und Fülle.

Es war einmal in Sizilien..... Die Geschichte der Familie Tasca aus Palermo könnte auch aus einem Märchen stammen. Es begann im frühen 18. Jahrhundert, als die Familie das Gut REGALEALI kaufte. Hier gab es nur Oliven und einige Obstbäume. Es wurde der zweite Wohnsitz der „Tascas“, die neben ihrem Hauptwohnsitz VILLA TASCA in Palermo auch noch die VILLA CAMASTRA - wo Richard Wagner zeitweise an seinem Meisterwerk “Parsifal” schrieb - besaßen. In dieser Zeit investierte niemand in Sizilien in Landwirtschaft und Weinbau. Obwohl das Engagement mit einigen Schwierigkeiten begann, gab der Erfolg dem Conte Tasca recht. Die mikroklimatischen Bedingungen waren in dieser Region besonders günstig und die Reben gediehen prächtig. Heute gehört Tasca d’Almerita zu den ersten Adressen Siziliens. Neben den einheimischen Rebsorten wie Inzolia und Catarratto sowie Nero d’Avola und Perricone, werden auch Weine aus den traditionellen Rebsorten Chardonnay, Sauvignon, Merlot und Cabernet Sauvignon mit weltweitem Erfolg angebaut.
