Wonderfully perfumed with violets and essence of raspberries that follow through to a medium to full body with totally integrated tannins that are tight and poised. You almost can’t “see” the tannins, but you feel them. Best after 2025, but already so pretty.

The 2019 La Chapelle de La Mission Haut-Brion is absolutely gorgeous. Rich and pliant in the glass, with striking depth and fine balance, La Chapelle is everything a second wine should be. Succulent red berry fruit, iron, white pepper, smoke and tobacco lend nuance. There's real intensity and resonance here. I would give the 2019 a few years in bottle to come around fully.

The palate is medium-bodied with a slightly powdery texture, fine acidity, good weight and a lovely, saline finish that gets the saliva flowing. A thoroughly fine Deuxième Vin.
