Youthfully mute with bright. youthful red currants. black raspberries. cassis and freshly crushed blackberries notions. it slowly unfurls to reveal an earthy/minerally undercurrent of damp soil. charcoal. iron ore and truffles plus a waft of violets. Medium to full-bodied. decadently fruited and yet wonderfully elegant with very ripe. very silky tannins. freshness that sits well in the background and an almost electric intensity of vibrant red and black fruit flavors. it finishes long and minerally. Just. Beautiful. Consider giving it 6-7 years in bottle before broaching and drink it over the next 30+.

Medium to deep garnet-purple in color, the 2015 Clos l'Eglise has a very earthy nose of black soil, truffles and mossy bark over a core of kirsch, blackberry preserves and dried mulberries with wafts of rose hips and oolong tea. Full-bodied, richly fruited and packed with savory layers, it has a firm frame of grainy tannins and just enough freshness, finishing long and earthy.

Also; let's see in 10 years.

Chateau Pape Clement 2015 Doppel-Magnum in der 1er OHKAntonio Galloni beschreibt den Chateau Pape Clement 2015 im Februar 2018 wie folgt:

One of the stars of the vintage. the 2015 Pape Clément is fabulous. Dark and beautifully resonant. it captures all the natural radiance of the year in the Pape Clément style. Super-ripe black cherry. plum. mocha. chocolate. new leather and spice effortlessly fill out the wine's ample frame. Soft contours and an open-knit. inviting personality are just two of the reasons the Pape Clément is going to be virtually impossible to resist. even in the early going. The blend is 60% Cabernet Sauvignon and 40% Merlot. Tasted two times.

Medium-bodied. firm and concentrated with tons of tightly wound black fruit and earth layers. it has a grainy frame and refreshing lift on the long finish.

20 / 20 Punkte  Rene Gabriel beschreibt den Chateau Pape Clement 2015 wie folgt:

50 % Cabernet Sauvignon. 47 % Merlot. 2 % Petit Verdot. 1 % Cabernet Franc.

Clos Fourtet is a drop-dead gorgeous beauty in 2015. Powerful. vivid and wonderfully nuanced. it exudes class. Inky red/purplish stone fruit. lavender. spice. mint and orange peel give the 2015 its myriad shades of nuance. but it is the wine's balance and total sense of harmony that elevate it to the realm of the profound. In 2015. Clos Fourtet has a bit more body and resonance than is typically the case. Beneath all of the fruit. however. the 2015 has more than enough energy and structural underpinning to drink well for many years. This is a stunning wine from the Cuvelier family and consulting winemakers Stéphane Derenoncourt and Julien Lavenu. The blend is 88% Merlot. 10% Cabernet Sauvignon and 2% Cabernet Franc. Deep garnet-purple colored. it slips provocatively out of the glass with a lifted perfume of roses. candied violets and lavender over a core of warm red and black plums. chocolate box. unsmoked cigars and baked cherries with wafts of wild thyme and tilled soil. 97 Punkte vom Vinous-Team für den Chateau La Conseillante 2016 PomerolVerkostungsbericht aus Januar 2019:

The 2016 La Conseillante is a brilliant wine from the team led by Technical Director Marielle Cazaux. Polished and sophisticated. the 2016 possesses stunning vertical lift. with soaring aromatics that make a strong first impression. Silky and seductive on the palate. the 2016 is all about precision and energy in the early going. It is also one of the most quite. soft-spoken Pomerols of the vintage. Hints of blackberry. lavender. licorice and spice add nuance. but in 2016 La Conseillante stands out for its sublime balance and total sense of harmony. The 2016 spent 17 months in oak. 70% new. As gorgeous as the 2016 is. my impression is that the best is yet to come. Since arriving at La Conseillante. Cazaux has changed much in the farming of the property. including introducing cover crops and limiting yields. She also now works with no sulfites in winemaking and opts for lower temperatures in fermentation. In other words. the full results of all of that work is yet to be seen. For now. though. the 2016 Conseillante is a pretty special wine. Don't miss it. Tasted two times.

The aromas of violets and dark berries with licorice and sweet black tea are so attractive. What really impresses is the sweet fruit in the dense middle palate. So attractive. At the same time. there’s plenty of plush and ripe tannins that give the wine form and brightness. And it still remains bright on the finish. as the tannins roll on. A great Conseillante. Try after 2024.

This is a significant VCC with masses of fruit and juicy tannins. It’s fresh. but impresses you with the rich and powerful fruit. A tower of a wine. Incredible depth and density. Thick and muscular. It is 30 per cent cabernet franc. the rest merlot.

97-100 Punkte vom Wine Advocate für den Vieux Chateau Certan 2018 PomerolLisa Perrotti Brown bewertet den Vieux Chateau Certan 2018 Pomerol wie folgt:

The 2018 Vieux Château Certan is a blend of 70% Merlot and 30% Cabernet Franc. Yields were 40 hectoliters per hectare. The wine has a pH of 3.78. 14.4% alcohol and an IPT (total polyphenol index) of 77. Medium to deep garnet-purple—it has a very vibrant color—it drifts effortlessly out of the glass with wonderfully intense. beautifully delineated scents of red roses. black raspberries. kirsch and Darjeeling tea before the powerful. profound black fruits kick in: baked plums. wild blueberries. molten licorice and mulberries with touches of cigar box. cinnamon stick. tapenade and truffles. Full-bodied. rich. densely packed and revealing layer upon layer of red and black fruits with an incredible array of floral and spicy sparks. it has a high level of super ripe. incredibly fine. velvety soft tannins and fantastic freshness (not just from acid but from bright. crunchy fruit). It finishes very long. marvelously layered and with such jaw-dropping brightness from the fruit. the end is almost electric. Incredible.

94-97 Punkte vom Vinous-Team für den Vieux Chateau Certan 2018 PomerolAntonio Galloni bewertet den Vieux Chateau Certan 2018 Pomerol wie folgt:

The 2018 Vieux Château Certan is a very pretty wine built more on elegance. finesse and aromatic nuance. Relative to the recent past. the 2018 shows a much more mid-weight structure and less of the creaminess of either 2015 or 2016. Much of that is attributable to a blend that includes 30% Cabernet Franc. Lavender. rose petal. mint and blueberry fruit all grace the 2018. Far from an obvious wine. the 2018 is going to need a number of years to be at its best. as it is a wine of total understatement and class. Fine beads of tannin support the understated finish. In 2018. VCC is a wine of refinement and subtlety more than anything else. I don't see the same visceral thrill as in a number of vintages of the recent past. Perhaps that will come in bottle.

The 2019 Le Gay has an unashamed old school Pomerol bouquet that I like. very terroir driven with loamy black fruit. touches of shaved black truffle and warm gravel. It is not a fruit-forward. sensual Pomerol - this is much more intellectual. like some of the older Le Gay that I tasted during the Robin sisters era. The palate is very well balanced with plenty of red fruit. structured like Le Gay usually is with brown spices and clove towards the persistent finish. It is one of the appelation's most fascinating wines and it should age with style.

One of the wines of the vintage, the 2019 Vieux Château Certan unfurls in the glass with a striking bouquet of cassis and cherries mingled with notions of violets, loamy soil, sweet spices and incense. Full-bodied, ample and layered, it's seamless and enveloping, with a fleshy core of beautifully vibrant fruit, lively acids and ripe, powdery tannins. Concluding with a long, resonant finish, this perfumed, sensual Vieux Château Certan is a remarkable achievement from Alexandre and Guillaume Thienpont.

98 Punkte vom Vinous-Team für den Vieux Chateau Certan 2019 PomerolAntonio Galloni (Vinous) bewertet den Vieux Chateau Certan 2019 Pomerol:

The 2019 Vieux Château Certan is even better from bottle than it was from barrel. It is very clearly one of the highlights on the Right Bank. Soaring aromatics are immediately captivating. There is an exoticism in the 2019 that I saw from barrel that is evident in the bottled wine, but today, I see more balance and harmony. Crème de cassis, licorice, lavender, spice and rose petal blend into a core of red/purplish berry fruit. All the elements are so well balanced. The Grand Vin is a blend of Merlot and Cabernet Franc, but the blend also includes one lot of young vine Cabernet Sauvignon that was added for its aromatic presence. That decision paid off in spades, as the 2019 is truly magical.

97 Punkte vom Vinous-Team für den Vieux Chateau Certan 2019 PomerolUnd Neal Martin (Vinous) beschreibt den Vieux Chateau Certan 2019 Pomerol:

The 2019 Vieux Château Certan was picked September 23–27 and October 2–3, and matured in two-thirds new oak. Alexandre Thienpont mentioned that the 2019 includes a lot of Cabernet Sauvignon, which displayed such distinctive aromatics that he had to include it in the final blend (unlike in 2020). He pointed to a scent of immortelle, a plant that grows on sand dunes. This was stunning as a barrel sample, and there is no change in bottle. It still delivers exquisitely delineated, vivacious scents of red fruit, touches of crushed stone and a suggestion of brine. The palate is medium-bodied and classic in style, the expressive Cabernet components complementing the Merlot. There’s fine backbone here, and this VCC fans out gloriously on the finish, with a surfeit of freshness and tension. Yet unlike some recent vintages, this is a Pomerol that says "Attendez!" Give it a decade in a cellar if you know what’s good for you.
