TThis estate has been delivering the goods for numerous vintages now, and the 2019 Château Tour Saint Christophe is another terrific wine. Ripe black cherries, black raspberries, graphite, new leather, and chalky minerality all define the nose, and it's medium to full-bodied, has a tight, straight, focused texture, ripe yet present tannins, and outstanding length. It doesn't have the mid-palate density or opulence of the 2018, but it’s more pretty, focused, and straight on the palate. Give bottles 4-5 years and enjoy over the following two decades.

The 2019 Tour Saint Christophe builds on the promise it showed from barrel. This sample was actually tasted at my home, where I afforded it a two-hour decant. It revealed precocious yet controlled blackberry and blueberry fruit scents, with that violet component still intact. The tannins have not lost any of their grippiness or assertiveness. This is a Saint-Émilion that is in for the long haul. Great potential.

The 2019 Tour Saint Christophe was picked from 27 September until 15 October at 37hl/ha. Matured in 40% new oak. this has an incredibly concentrated bouquet that needs to shrug off a little reduction when I taste it. Layers of blackberry and blueberry. wilted violets and orange rind burst from the glass. The palate is medium-bodied with juicy ripe grippy tannins that frame the layers of dense black fruit tinged with allspice and graphite. It is a Saint-Émilion clearly built for the long-term. powerful and uncompromising. perhaps one that will be in need of cellaring for several years before it becomes approachable.

Tour Saint Christophe is one of best values in Saint-Émilion. I haven't always loved Tour Saint Christoph, but I love the 2018. It's a fabulous effort from Technical Director Jérôme Aguirre and his team. Don't miss it.

Based on 80% Merlot and 20% Cabernet Franc raised in 40% new barrels (the balance is in second- and third-fill oak), it offers a full-bodied, incredibly pure, balanced style revealing subtle oak, terrific darker, almost blue fruits, lots of chocolate, leafy herb and mineral nuances, and gorgeous tannins. It's worth pointing out that this will be the last vintage made by the talented Jérôme Aguirre. This terrific Saint-Emilion will evolve for two decades.

Another beautiful wine from the Lefévère family that does everything right, the 2019 Château Sansonnet has a textbook Saint-Emilion bouquet of chalky minerality, ripe red and black fruits, notes of truffle and flowers, medium to full body, and beautiful overall balance. In the past, this wine has had a glossy, slightly modern style (in a good sense), but the 2019 has an incredibly classic feel with its oak nicely integrated and just a liquid rock-like minerality on the finish. It's a gorgeous wine that will benefit from 2-4 years of bottle age and keep for over two decades.

Poesia is a big, explosive Saint-Émilion, but it also possesses tremendous energy. Dark fruit, gravel, incense, spice and saddle leather open with a bit of coaxing. There is an exotic quality to Poesia in 2019 that is especially alluring. Brilliant.

The 2019 Larcis Ducasse is magnificent. Deep and beautifully layered, the 2019 offers tons of youthful resonance wrapped into a super-classic frame. There is a feeling of translucence here that is so beguiling. Sweet dark cherry, tobacco, cedar, menthol and dried flowers are some of the many aromas and flavors that take shape over time. Regal and refined, with an elegant, polished finish, Larcis is magnificent in 2019. Aging in equal parts barrique and 500L tonneaux (which are rare in Bordeaux) helps preserve vibrancy. Larcis Ducasse might be the single most under the radar wine in all of Bordeaux!

Ripe black fruit (there's some red fruit as well), tobacco leaf, damp earth, exotic flowers, and some chocolaty notes all emerge from the 2019 Clos De L'Oratoire, another beautiful wine from the Neipperg family and team. Rich, medium to full-bodied, and seamless on the palate, I love its mid-palate, it has gorgeous tannins, no hard edges, and a great finish. This is clearly a great vintage for this cuvée. Hide bottles for 4-5 years, and it's going to have 2-3 decades of longevity, and probably a gradual decline after that as well. It's beautiful.

Stephan von Neipperg's 2019 Clos de l'Oratoire has turned out very nicely in bottle, opening in the glass to reveal aromas of sweet wild berries, cherries, loamy soil and raw cocoa. Medium to full-bodied, ample and fleshy, it's broad and succulent, with lively acids, powdery tannins and a nicely defined finish. It's produced from holdings on sandy-clay soils in the northeast of Saint-Émilion.

The 2019 Clos de l’Oratoire is an absolute gem from Stéphan von Neipperg. The beautifully defined nose unfurls with each swirl of the glass, revealing blackberry, briar and touches of wild mint and heather, all precise and focused. The palate is medium-bodied, quite sapid and classic in style, offering fine structure, gentle grip on the finish, and touches of black pepper and clove on the aftertaste. This is excellent and well worth seeking out.

Château Peymouton ist Teil des Anwesens von Château Laroque, einem historischen Grand Cru Classé von Saint-Émilion, das nur 3,5 km östlich des mittelalterlichen Dorfes liegt.

Château Laroque, eines der größten Anwesen der Appellation, stammt aus dem 12. Jahrhundert. Dank seiner strategischen Lage auf einem Kalksteinplateau mit Blick auf das Tal des Flusses Dordogne fungierte es als wichtige Verteidigungsfestung für das nahe gelegene Dorf. Der Weinberg selbst wurde im 18. Jahrhundert gepflanzt. Die Familie Beaumartin erwarb das Anwesen 1935 und begann in den 1960er Jahren mit der Modernisierung des Weinbergs und der Weinbereitung.

1996 wurde Château Laroque für 27 Hektar seines Weinbergs der Grand Cru Classé-Status verliehen, während die restlichen 31 Hektar einen neuen Wein hervorbrachten: Château Peymouton, Saint-Émilion Grand Cru.

Château Peymouton liegt auf einem Hochplateau des Anwesens (80-100 Meter über dem Meeresspiegel), das teilweise aus einer dünnen Schicht reichen Tons über Kalkstein und teilweise aus tiefem, dickem rotem Ton besteht. Diese Böden verleihen dem Wein Dichte und Struktur, der jedoch die Eleganz des Kalksteins bewahrt.

Château Peymouton wird von demselben Team geführt und genießt die gleiche Sorgfalt und Aufmerksamkeit wie Château Laroque. Die Weinlese erfolgt nach der individuellen Reife der einzelnen Parzellen und der Wein wird schonend vinifiziert, wobei besondere Sorgfalt auf den Ausdruck frischer Frucht gelegt wird.

Tighter and more backward from bottle than barrel, it's medium to full-bodied and has a balanced, elegant texture, beautiful tannins, and a great finish. It needs 3-5 years of bottle age and should have two decades of overall longevity.

Eine behutsame und schrittweise Pressung ermöglicht es, die Qualität der Trauben und die organoleptische Finesse des erhaltenen Mostes zu bewahren. Die erste alkoholische Gärung findet im Edelstahltank bei niedriger und kontrollierter Temperatur (17°C) statt, um die Ausprägung der Primäraromen zu optimieren. Die zweite Gärung wird auch « prise de mousse » (Schaumbildung) genannt und erfolgt in der Flasche in den Kellereien bei geregelter Temperatur (16°C). Das Hefelager dauert zwischen 9 und 12 Monaten.

Schöne blassgelbe Robe mit leichten grünen Reflexen. Feine und zarte Bläschen. Frische Nase, typisch für die Rebsorte Mauzac, mit Aromen von weißen Blumen, weißen Früchten und Garrigue. Der Auftakt ist offen und wunderbar samtig. Diese Cuvée besitzt einen ausgewogenen und fruchtigen Mund mit schöner Persistenz.

Im Jahre 1531 erfreuten sich die dortigen Mönche an der per Zufall entdeckten "Blanquette de Limoux" und in dem Crémant "Grande Cuvée 1531" finden Händler einen der feinsten Crémants Frankreichs.

Die Sekttradition in Limoux geht zurück auf das Jahr 1531. als dortige Mönche das Prinzip der Versektung entdeckten. Langsame Traubenreifung in kühleren Lagen um Limoux bewahren Struktur und Säure in den Trauben und machen sie somit geeignet zur Versektung. Die Trauben für den Première Bulle wurden handgelesen. es erfolgte eine traditionelle Flaschengärung mit insgesamt 24monatiger Hefelagerung. Der Sekt besitzt eine blassgelbe Farbe mit grünen Reflexen. Das feine und anhaltende Mousseux ist sehr gut in den Wein eingebunden. Angenehm trocken, ist das Mousseux noch etwas aufgewühlt dank des erst jüngst zurückliegenden Degorgierens, dennoch diszipliniert und feinperlig, wie es sich gehört. Neben der klaren Frucht zeigt sich am Gaumen etwas salzgebutterter Zopf.

Von einem Weingut, das in letzter Zeit eine unglaubliche Erfolgsserie hatte – vor allem dank der Talente von Direktor David Suire – zeigt der 2020 Château Laroque den kühleren, kalksteinbetonten Stil des Terroirs auf wunderschöne Weise. Er präsentiert eine klare, fokussierte Stilistik mit dunklen (fast bläulichen) Beerenfrüchten, kreidiger Mineralität, Veilchen, Gewürzen und floralen Nuancen. Der 2020 Laroque ist sehr gelungen und entfaltet Aromen von Kirschen, minzigen Brombeeren, Lakritz und Lorbeerblatt. Mittel- bis vollmundig, samtig und vielschichtig, mit guter Tiefe im Kern, kreidigen, aber fein strukturierten Tanninen und einem salinen Abgang. Eine weitere starke Leistung für diesen aufstrebenden Star aus Saint-Émilion.

Fleischige dunkle Pflaume, Kies, Gewürze, Menthol, Lakritze und Pfeifentabak geben den 2020 Tonnen Nuancen. Laroque ist personifizierter. Der Winzer David Suire macht hier wichtige Arbeit.

Der Gaumen ist mittelkräftig mit feinkörnigen Tanninen, ziemlich strukturiert und fast Pauillac-artig, dank Adern von Graphit zum Finish hin, die durch die 48% Cabernet Sauvignon beigesteuert werden. Salziger Nachgeschmack, wenn auch nicht übermäßig lang, dies ist ein sehr vielversprechender Zweitwein.
