The palate is ripe and succulent on the entry. yet there are genuinely very fine tannins here. lending this Saint-Estèphe a silky texture à la 2016 and a persistent. gratifying finish. Bon vin!

With a deep garnet-purple color, the 2019 Serilhan bursts from the glass with notes of ripe blackcurrants, boysenberries, black raspberries and cedar chest plus nuances of red roses, pencil lead and camphor. The medium-bodied palate shimmers with energy, featuring tons of crunchy black fruit and a finely grained texture, lifted by fantastic tension, finishing long and perfumed. Impressive!

This is a very fine Meyney that may warrant a higher score down the line.

I love the nose on the 2019 Château Capbern, a medium to full-bodied, spicy, rich, tobacco and cedar pencil-filled beauty with ripe yet building tannins, a great mix of richness and freshness, and a blockbuster of a finish. It's incredibly impressive, and while it offers pleasure even today, it deserves 5-6 years of bottle age, and I can't imagine it not evolving for two decades.

Now in bottle, here is the Pessac-Léognan I know, with ample blackberry, cedar, black olive and light marine scents on the nose. The palate is medium-bodied with sappy black fruit, quite fleshy but still nicely structured, and showing fine backbone on the sappy, white-pepper- and sage-tinged finish. Now this is promising.

Der Pintas Character ist der kleine Bruder des Kultwein Pintas.

Die beeindruckende Qualität dieses edlen Portugiesen verdankt der Pintas Character unter anderem den mehr als 30 verschiedenen autochthonen Rebsorten. die typisch für das Douro-Tal sind. Nach der selektiven Handlese von alten Rebstöcken wurden die Trauben ganz traditionell und schonend über mehrere Tage hinweg von Menschen getreten. So können nur die besten Tannine in den späteren Wein gelangen. Die nach der Gärung erfolgenden Reifung und malolaktische Gärung wurde in französischen Eichenfässern für 18 Monaten durchgeführt.

Luis Gutierrez:
Der Pintas Character 2021 wurde aus Trauben alter, kleiner Parzellen rund um die ursprünglichen Pintas-Weinberge hergestellt, die mit über 30 Rebsorten auf sehr armen Schieferböden mit weniger Eisen, neueren Böden und sehr flachen Schichten bepflanzt sind, wobei Tinta Roriz und Touriga Franca dominieren. Er fermentierte in Edelstahl und reifte in Fässern. Mit 14,5% Alkohol ist er vollreif und großzügig mit Holz (nur 10% der Barriques wurden verwendet), aber weniger als in der Vergangenheit, und er hat eine gute Frische und Balance, mit etwas Strenge, Noten von Beerenfrüchten und etwas Harz. Er ist vollmundig und hat körnige Tannine. Er sollte sich mit etwas mehr Zeit in der Flasche weiter verfeinern, ist aber dennoch zugänglicher als Pintas.

Wine & Soul ist das gemeinsame Projekt von der Top Winemakerin in Portugal Sandra Tavares da Silva und Jorge Serodio Borges im Pinhao Valley. Im Douro Tal schaffen Sie Weine die aus teilweise sehr alten Rebanlagen die aus den traditionellen Rebsorten gekeltert werden.
Die Weine bewahren bei aller Konzentration und Kraft stets Ihre Komplexität und Eleganz. Erst seit 2001 werden Weine wie der Pintas erzeugt. aber schon heute zählen diese Weine zu den absoluten Kultweinen Portugals. Die Produktion dieser Spitzengewächse ist jedes Jahr sehr limitiert.
