Very deep garnet-purple colored. the 2019 Lascombes charges out of the gate with brazen scents of blackcurrant jelly. Black Forest cake and black raspberries plus touches of cedar chest. lilacs. pencil lead. camphor and crushed rocks. Medium to full-bodied. the palate possesses beautiful poise and freshness. with a firm line of ripe. finely grained tannins supporting the intense. crunchy black fruits. finishing on a lingering mineral note.

The 2019 Lascombes is a rich. heady wine. as it so often is. A rush of inky dark fruit. crème de cassis. menthol. licorice and lavender builds as this voluptuous. creamy Margaux shows off its winning personality. Supple and forward. Lascombes is decidedly extroverted in feel. and yet all the elements meld together effortlessly. Lascombes is a big. extravagant wine. but the 2019 appears to be a bit more restrained than in the recent past.

Der 2016er La Fortune besteht aus 58% Cabernet Sauvignon und 42% Merlot. Für mich ist dieser Wein eine kleine Sensation. Die Entdeckung machte ich auf einer Weinmesse, hier wo man wie ein kleines Trüffelschwein von Stand zu stand schlendert und auf eine AHA-Erlebnis im Glas lauert. Dieses Erlebnis stellte sich zum Glück beim La Fortune 2016 ein, gerade noch rechtzeitig um auch direkt eine kleine Menge des 2019 zu sichern. Der Geschmack ist für mich etwas untypisch Margaux, denn man hat in der Nase zwar diese satte dunkle Fruchtaromatik von Kirsche, Waldbeeren und auch florale Anklänge, aber was dem Wein so eine zusätzliche Komponente verleiht ist dieser Schoko und geröstete Nüsse Touch, nicht nur in der Nase!

Auch am Gaumen spielt er seine Reize voll aus, die Fruch ist sehr schön präsent und die Tannine sind stützend, seine feingliedrige Säure vermählt sich schön mit einer steinigen Mineralität. Der Wein ist nicht überladen aber er lässt auch nichts vermissen, tolle Neuentdeckung und wir freuen uns von nun an immer auf ein paar wenige Flaschen dieses Weins, denn die Produktion ist nie sehr gross. Gerne verleihe ich diesem Wein 93 Punkte und finde das gebotenen Preis Genussverhältnis sehr ansprechend.

The 2016 Malescot Saint Exupéry is fabulous. Powerful and explosive on the palate. the 2016 offers serious intensity. but it also appears to be holding back quite a bit of its potential. Moreover. what impresses me most is that in 2016. intensity is delivered more with finesse than with the brutish power that is such a signature of Malescot. Deep and resonant. but also remarkably polished. the 2016 Malescot is a winner. Hints of iron. smoke. cedar. tobacco and scorched earth add nuance. but it is the wine's sense of poise that is most remarkable. I loved it. Tasted three times.

The 2019 Malescot St. Exupéry is quite possibly the most elegant wine I have tasted here. Plush and radiant, the 2019 possesses notable depth with plenty of supporting structure beneath surprisingly tamed tannins. Gravel, dark red cherry/plum, spice, leather and dried flowers build over time. The 2019 is a magical wine endowed with tremendous character. Don't miss it.

The 2019 Malescot Saint Exupéry has a well-defined bouquet, although it does not quite possess the intensity that it showed from barrel. Touches of licorice and allspice gently unfold with time. The palate is medium-bodied with sappy black fruit, and lightly spiced with white pepper and clove toward the detailed, persistent finish. This is a serious Margaux that deserves time in bottle.
