The 2019 Kirwan retains the engaging floral aromas that I noticed from barrel, well-defined and fragrant, rose petals and a touch of peony complementing the red currant and wild strawberry fruit. The fresh palate is medium-bodied, fleshy and generous, with supple tannins and a hint of white pepper toward the finish, which fans out nicely. This is one of the best Kirwans in recent years and yet I still feel this Margaux can reach higher.

Der 2016er La Fortune besteht aus 58% Cabernet Sauvignon und 42% Merlot. Für mich ist dieser Wein eine kleine Sensation. Die Entdeckung machte ich auf einer Weinmesse, hier wo man wie ein kleines Trüffelschwein von Stand zu stand schlendert und auf eine AHA-Erlebnis im Glas lauert. Dieses Erlebnis stellte sich zum Glück beim La Fortune 2016 ein, gerade noch rechtzeitig um auch direkt eine kleine Menge des 2019 zu sichern. Der Geschmack ist für mich etwas untypisch Margaux, denn man hat in der Nase zwar diese satte dunkle Fruchtaromatik von Kirsche, Waldbeeren und auch florale Anklänge, aber was dem Wein so eine zusätzliche Komponente verleiht ist dieser Schoko und geröstete Nüsse Touch, nicht nur in der Nase!

Auch am Gaumen spielt er seine Reize voll aus, die Fruch ist sehr schön präsent und die Tannine sind stützend, seine feingliedrige Säure vermählt sich schön mit einer steinigen Mineralität. Der Wein ist nicht überladen aber er lässt auch nichts vermissen, tolle Neuentdeckung und wir freuen uns von nun an immer auf ein paar wenige Flaschen dieses Weins, denn die Produktion ist nie sehr gross. Gerne verleihe ich diesem Wein 93 Punkte und finde das gebotenen Preis Genussverhältnis sehr ansprechend.

Etwas Mokka und süsse Kirsche. Am Gaumen saftig und frisch mit tollen Zusammenspiel der Komponente. Sehr klares und sauberes Finish. Die Tannine sind reif und tragen den Wein im langen Finale. The 2019 Labégorce was the first vintage vinified in the new cellar and also the first to use Cabernet Franc from the north part of the appellation, on more limestone soils, a massal selection from an organic producer in the south of France. Matured in 40% new oak, this has a voluminous, multifaceted bouquet, a mixture of red and black fruit, cedar and perhaps more rose petal than violet at the moment. The palate is medium-bodied with grainy tannins, very well balanced, and a little spicier than I found from barrel, leading to a detailed, tensile finish.

The 2016 Malescot Saint Exupéry is fabulous. Powerful and explosive on the palate. the 2016 offers serious intensity. but it also appears to be holding back quite a bit of its potential. Moreover. what impresses me most is that in 2016. intensity is delivered more with finesse than with the brutish power that is such a signature of Malescot. Deep and resonant. but also remarkably polished. the 2016 Malescot is a winner. Hints of iron. smoke. cedar. tobacco and scorched earth add nuance. but it is the wine's sense of poise that is most remarkable. I loved it. Tasted three times.

Fratelli Revello 2020 Barolo DOCG

Die Revello Baroli sind unserer Meinung nach einmalig in Sachen Preis Genuss. Das Weingut bewegt sich in der Stilistik zwischen Moderne und Klassik, diesen Spagat bekommt es jedoch perfekt hin. Die Weine werden über 4 Tage mit Schalenkontakt eingemaischt. Die alkoholische Gärung findet dann über 10 Tage im Edelstahltank statt, die anschliessenden malolaktische Veredelung dann in französischen Fässern. Der Ausbau während der 24 Monate erfolgt zu 20% in neuem Holz und 80% gebrauchte Fässer. Für den Barolo von Revello wird die Füllung im Juli vor dem Jahr der Freigabe auf die Flasche vorgenommen. In den Verkauf kommt der Revello Barolo dann im März des vierten Jahres auf die Lese folgend.

Weingut
In einer Urkunde aus dem Jahr 1211 ist zu ersehen, daß die Ritter von Greiffenclau Weine an ein Mainzer Stift geliefert haben. Diese Weine wuchsen schon auf denselben Südlagen, halbkreisförmig um das Schloss liegend, die noch heute vom Gut auf mittlerweile 58 ha bewirtschaftet werden. Diese 800jährige Tradition verpflichtet. Unter der Leitung von Dr. Rowald Hepp, vom Gault Millau zum Gutsverwalter des Jahres 2001 ausgezeichnet, hat sich das Weingut wieder an die Spitze der deutschen Rieslingerzeuger zurückgemeldet. Durch begrenzte Erntemenge, umsichtige Pflege der Weinberge, späte, selektive Lese und schonenden Ausbau werden fruchtige, rebsortentypische Rieslinge erzeugt. Schloss Vollrads steht nicht nur für den Namen des Weingutes, für einen Ortsteil und für eine Weinlage, Schloss Vollrads steht vor allem für eines: Kompetenz in Riesling.

The 2019 needs time, but it is a hugely promising wine. It is also one of the most tannic wines in Saint-Émilion.

The 2019 Trotte Vieille has closed up a little on the nose, yet there are still very attractive black cherries and iodine scents on the nose that gradually unfold with aeration. Almost Left Bank in style, this shows great clarity and fans out wonderfully on the finish. Superb.

BEST EVER für den Wineadvocate.
From a beautifully situated hillside vineyard, sandwiched between Larcis Ducasse and Tertre Roteboeuf on either side, with holdings belonging to Pavie and Troplong Mondot on the plateau above, the 2019 Bellefont Belcier has turned out very well indeed. Offering up aromas of smoky berry fruit, loamy soil, subtle spices, black truffle and violets, it's full-bodied, velvety and seamless, with a vibrant, enveloping profile and a long, penetrating finish. This is a terrific effort, though given the thoughtful farming and program of replanting that is underway at this long-neglected estate, I suspect it only hints at what is to come as Jean-Christophe Meyrou and his team get to work.

The 2019 Bellefont-Belcier is a wine of tremendous reserve. The 35% Cabernet Franc comes through in the wine's aromatic profile and overall feel. Readers will have to be patient, as the 2019 needs time to come together. It is a seriously impressive wine with tons of character. I have long admired Bellefont-Belcier for its potential. In the past, the tannins were simply overpowering, if the 2019 is any indication, that might be less of an issue going forward.

The 2019 Bellefont-Belcier was very impressive from barrel, and I have no reason to change that view in bottle. This is beautifully defined on the nose, which features vivacious red fruit laced with graphite and crushed stone. The palate is medium-bodied with finely chiseled tannins, fine tension and an almost pastille-like, graphite-tinged finish that lingers in the mouth. Superb.

It's another outstanding wine from this château.
