The 2015 Clos Fourtet is a blend of 90% Merlot. 7% Cabernet Sauvignon and 3% Cabernet Franc. and it was picked between 18 September and 12 October. It has a voluminous bouquet with sweet cassis and blueberry aromas. rather smudged with violets coming through with aeration. The palate is medium-bodied with rounded tannin. ripe and voluptuous. dark chocolate infusing the red and black fruit with a touch of mint on the structured. graceful finish. What a fabulous Saint Emilion from Mathieu Cuvelier and his team - Clos Fourtet with breeding and class. It deserves 5-8 years in bottle.

Clos Fourtet is a drop-dead gorgeous beauty in 2015. Powerful. vivid and wonderfully nuanced. it exudes class. Inky red/purplish stone fruit. lavender. spice. mint and orange peel give the 2015 its myriad shades of nuance. but it is the wine's balance and total sense of harmony that elevate it to the realm of the profound. In 2015. Clos Fourtet has a bit more body and resonance than is typically the case. Beneath all of the fruit. however. the 2015 has more than enough energy and structural underpinning to drink well for many years. This is a stunning wine from the Cuvelier family and consulting winemakers Stéphane Derenoncourt and Julien Lavenu. The blend is 88% Merlot. 10% Cabernet Sauvignon and 2% Cabernet Franc. Tasted three times.

Sattes Purpur-Granat. dicht in der Mitte. lila Schimmer aussen. Das Nasenbild ist eine Delikatesse. reife Kirschen. gar einen Hauch von Grenadine vermittelnd. Bereits das Bouquet vermittelt Klasse. Im Gaumen sublim. samtene Textur. in der Mitte aber dann schon seine Kraft etwas zeigend. dies mit pfeffrigen. aber auch ganz dezent kernigen Noten. tolle Länge. Trotz der angezeigten Harmonie sind die Komponente noch nicht ganz beieinander. Aber das kommt sicher noch mit dem Ausbau. Aufgerundet. Potentialwertung:

Besitzt eine der zurückhaltendsten Nasen. auch mit etwas Zeit noch verschlossen. Von der Farbe her auch nicht komplett undurchsichtig. Ein wenig feine Süsse freigebend. Der Tänzer unter den Saint Emilon Kraftprotzen. Eleganz ist hier die Stärke und weiss so zu überzeugen. 93-95+

Made of 98% Merlot and 2% Cabernet Franc. the 2017 Belair Monange is medium to deep garnet-purple in color. With a little swirling. this baby comes bounding out of the glass with energetic notes of wild blueberries. Morello cherries. baked plums and black raspberries with wafts of Indian spices. lavender. garrigue and tobacco plus a hint of licorice. Medium to full-bodied. the black and blue fruit dance playfully on the palate with fantastic freshness to lift the bold flavors and a superb frame of ripe. velvety tannins. It finishes very long and with amazing zing. So tempting to drink now. but make no mistake—this is one for the long haul!

Fresh earth. truffle. sous bois and attractively ripe blueberry and plum aromas here. It’s a bold and very pure. primary wine here for now. yet this has great potential. The palate reveals beautifully ripe red-plum and cherry flavors with a powerful tannin statement that carries impressive depth and scale on the finish. Give this time. Try from 2023.

The 2017 Bélair-Monange was so impressive out of barrel and now in bottle. I see no reason to alter my appreciation. It has a very intense bouquet. one that is reassuringly complex. especially in context of what was a rather ordinary growing season with copious red cherries. boysenberry. hints of iodine and a light terracotta scent. The palate is medium-bodied with very fine tannins that are surprisingly rigid at the moment. suggesting that this will be a long term Saint-Émilion. There is a beguiling sense of symmetry. very mineral-driven towards the finish that has impressive sapidity. This comes highly recommended although it deserves five or six years in bottle. Bravo Christian and Edouard Moueix.

Super nose of dried blueberry, black plum, walnut, myrrh and sandalwood. Lavender, violet, and chocolate, too. Ripe with wood now, but fresh. It’s full-bodied with firm, ultra fine tannins. Lots of dark spice is interlaced with the ripe fruit, giving this complex, perfumed character. Muscular, long and seamless with incredible depth and concentration. Reminds me of the great 2009, but this is better with more structure. Amazing wine. This is 100% merlot. Try from 2027.

The 2018 Trotanoy is a bold, powerful wine. In this vintage, some of the imposing structure that is such a Trotanoy signature has been replaced by super-expressive aromatics and striking detail. Dried herbs, iron, gravel and crushed rose petals all lend gorgeous savory nuance to a core of potent red berry fruit. Trotanoy is a Pomerol for those who can be patient. The 2018, though, is extraordinarily beautiful right out of the gate.

Another heavenly Pomerol in the vintage, the 2018 Château Trotanoy checks in as 90% Merlot and 10% Cabernet Franc brought up in (I suspect) lots of new French oak (although it's certainly not apparent). Revealing a dense purple hue as well as a smorgasbord-like bouquet of blackcurrants, dried flowers, cured meats, violets, tobacco, and chocolate, it hits the palate with full-bodied richness, a sexy, seductive texture, building yet sweet tannins, and just a rich, concentrated, yet flawless profile on the palate that's already impossible to resist. Nevertheless, a good 7-8 years of bottle age are warranted, and this magical elixir is going to evolve for 40 years or more.

The 2018 Trotanoy is composed of 90% Merlot and 10% Cabernet Franc. Medium to deep garnet-purple in color, it slowly unfurls to reveal a jaw-dropping perfume of Black Forest cake, black raspberries, blackberry pie and kirsch, followed by hints of cast-iron pan, violets, woodsmoke, Chinese five spice and eucalyptus, with a waft of tree bark. The full-bodied palate explodes with exotic spice and mineral fireworks, grounded by a concentrated, black and red berry preserves core and framed by firm, grainy tannins, finishing with epic length and depth. It will need a good five years in bottle to tame some of the youthfully overt, showy fruit and allow the mineral and earth nuances to emerge, then it should easily cellar another 35 years or more

Der Bronzelack Riesling trocken vom Schloss Johannisberg ist mit dem 2016er Jahrgang zum ersten mal entstanden und ersetzt den bisherigen Rotlack trocken. Der Bronzelack verkörpert einen traditionellen Ausbaustil auf Johannisberg. Die Farbe des Bronzelack ist von reifer und ins zitronengelbe gehende mit mittlerer Intensität. Seine Aromatik ist spielt vom weissen Pfirsich. Reife Zitrusfrüchte und weitere Steinobstaromen bis hin zur Marille. Der Unterschied zum Rotlack trocken ist, dass nun der Bronzelack nicht mehr das starre Korsett eines markanten und filigranen Weissweines mit 11.5Vol.% erfüllen muss. Auch am Gaumen fällt diese neue Freiheit deutlich auf, der Bronzelack ist füllig und konzentriert ohne die Markanz und Frische die die Weine des Schloss Johannisberger Riesling immer auszeichnet vermissen zu lassen. Wir hatten grossen Spass bei der Verkostung dieses Neulings im Portfolio bei Johannisberg. Er präsentiert sich fast als Vorbote zum Silberlack, dem grossen Bruder im Hause, der immer ein wenig Anlaufzeit braucht. Den Schloss Johannisberger Bronzelack Riesling trocken wird es nur in der Geschmacksrichtung trocken geben, obwohl also eine weitere Farbe hinzugekommen ist, wird es etwas einfacher im Farbenspiel bei der Domaine Johannisberg.

This super-elegant 2022 dry riesling has an expressive peachy nose with delicate orange, nutmeg and chamomile nuances.
